Course Introduction and Set-up

Class Overview

What will we do?

We will introduce the main concepts of the course and set up the necessary software. By the end of this class you will have configured your first automation.

Class Materials
  • Link: UiPath Academic Alliance (to obtain a license key).
  • Link: UiPath Cloud (software to build RPA bots, get license first).
  • Link: LucidChart (backup software to create BPMN diagrams).
  • Slides: PowerPoint or PDF
  • Automation Tools: Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN), UIPath Maestro, UIPath Studio
  • Suggested Pre-Class Preparation
    1. There is no need to prepare in advance of class, we will begin our automation journey together in class!
  • Class Plan
    1. I will go over the key areas in the syllabus and course structure.
    2. We will have an interactive exercise to start thinking about automation opportunities in various business processes, including tasks that you undertook in your internships.
    3. We will undertake some course software set-up requirements together in class, including software (this quarter we are less reliant on the remote labs).
    4. We will undertake a short lab exercise to set-up UiPath Studio Cloud to catch and address any possible issues with the software.
    5. We will use UIPath Maestro to set-up a BPMN diagram that will serve as a guide to set the stage for automating future processes.
