Asher Curtis is a tenured associate professor in the accounting group at Foster who holds the Herbert O. Whitten Endowed Professorship in Accounting.
His research interests are largely related to understanding how accounting information influences capital markets participants and the economy more broadly.
He has recently researched the use of accounting information on social media.
He has presented his research at prestigious academic conferences, to finance industry professionals and to the FASB Board.
Asher has a passion to develop and implement innovative curriculum.
He has been recognized for his innovation in curriculum winning the “Charles E. Summer Memorial Teaching Award,” the “William and Helen Fowler Award for Special Achievement in Accounting,” the
“Lex N. Gamble Family Award for Excellence in Case Development & Curriculum Innovation,” the “UIPath Visionary Educator Award” and is internationally recognized as a leader in accounting analytics teaching and training.
He is one of six accounting academics who are a part of the EY Academic Resource Center (EYARC), part of the EY Foundation, who collaborate with practice to prepare real-world cases and teaching materials.
His area of expertise within the EYARC is developing innovation mindset case studies including developing cases, materials, and solutions for advanced data analytics (including XBRL), blockchain, and robotic process automation case studies.
He has presented his teaching philosophy at EY colloquia, to the treasurers of Mega-Cap companies, and the Foster advisory Board to stress the importance of an analytic and innovative mindset.
