Enron Forensic Email Analysis, Conclusion, and Deliverable

Description

In this class, students will finalize their Enron email analysis and prepare their memo with supporting evidence. The task is concluded by identifying the individuals of interest in the forensic investigation and examining all of their email data to document any additional suspicious activity.

Review

This case is the final RegEx focused cases in the course. It builds on the prior two classes which introduced advanced ETL and textual analysis techniques using Alteryx and regular expressions. In these previous sessions, students learned how to extract, clean, and restructure data from unstructured text, specifically working with the Enron Email Corpus. This final class focuses on applying those skills to complete a forensic email analysis, identifying individuals of interest and documenting suspicious activities. By synthesizing the techniques learned in earlier classes, students will demonstrate their ability to handle complex data challenges and deliver actionable insights from large-scale email datasets.

Preparation

• Students should be familiar with the Enron material presented in the prior classes and be working with the Enron Email Alteryx Workflow.

Class plan

• There will be a brief review of the case, including some PollEverywhere Questions on RegEx.
• In discussion teams, students will finalize their Enron email analysis and prepare their memo with supporting evidence for identifying individuals of interest.
• The task is concluded by identifying the individuals of interest in the forensic investigation and then examining all of their email data to document any additional suspicious activity.
